Guide to Joyce's pass

Guide to Joyce's Pass.

First read the South and West Coast guide and pick your time for slack water.

For a first venture it is best to come from the South as everything is easier to recognise.

Nose up to Duck Island turn to the North East and as you move Northeasterly count two big rocks to Starboard and three lesser rocks to Port, Joyce's pass is then open to you        Go for it !!!!!

Joyce's Pass is narrow at low water not much more than 30 feet wide.

At low water keep to the East side there is a rock on the West probably deep enough not to be a problem. I just saw it in passing on one occassion.

At low water Spring I recorded 4m beneath my keel.

The Eastern side of the pass is a big slab of rock going down into the sea.

Caution I have come across lobster pots in the channel and immediately on the Northern side.

The waypoints I use are ;

South close to Duck Island;  53 24 24 N  / 10 11 70 W

North entrance                    53 24 55 N   / 10 12 08  W

West of Clark's rocks           53 25 27 N   /  10 13 11 W.
